Building Blocks

2015 | moretrees | Kengo Kuma

I had thought that building blocks were originally meant to be stacked, but these blocks can also be arranged, stacked, and assembled. It's a very architect-like idea. Kengo Kuma, who designed the blocks, says, "The blocks inspired me to become an architect. When you have fun tinkering with them, you can learn about structures. It can be used to design objects, furniture, houses, parks, and even urban development. The simple V-shaped modules are carefully made one by one by craftsmen, so they are stronger than they look. They are made of cedar wood from Morozuka Village, Miyazaki Prefecture, and are certified by the international FSC forest certification.
